Porsche presents its new racing car for the GT3 series. The basis for the brutal slopes robbers GT3 R, the new Porsche GT3 R sports series.
Visually appears the 911 GT3 R as the inflated counterpart of production sports car. In fact, the race car has a curb weight of around 1,220 kilos but slimmed down more than 200 kilograms. The Serial Elfer GT3 RS brings at least 1,420 kilos. The performance, however, remains the same, which is also due to the GT3 regulations: Both sports cars make official 500 horsepower.
Ultra-light racer with two-meter rear wing
Technically Porsche has brought the powerful Porsche GT3 R into shape. What remains is the typical "bubble roof" of the production version that now, however, from ultra-light carbon-fiber composite material (CFRP) is. The new front end, the fenders, the side panels including doors and rear section made from the same material. The absolute highlight is the gigantic, two meters wide and 40 centimeters deep rear wing, which is to keep the 500-horsepower racing on the asphalt. For racing also the impact protection has been improved, as well as the escape hatch in the roof increases.
The performance of the racing version can be so far only guess. Already the 911 GT3 RS accelerates in 3.3 seconds from 0 to 100 and runs up to 310 km / h. The GT3 R will beat these values probably significantly. Private race teams can buy the Porsche race cars now available for 429,000Euros (plus VAT). Deliveries will start in December this year. By comparison, the production version of the 911 GT3 RS will cost at least 181 690 euro.
